Palmetto Carriage Tours

A carriage tour of Charleston is a blend of knowledge, wit, humor, and history. It is exciting and ever changing, the ultimate urban battle of 19th century conveyance in a 21st century city. For me it is most of my life spent driving the streets of the city; recounting, witnessing, and in some cases taking part in the ever-unfolding story that is Charleston. I have surrounded myself with a group of tour guides who are as dedicated to this craft as I am. My four children are among them. We were here before any of the other carriage companies and, together, we have developed the greatest carriage experience in the city.

Drayton Hall

One of the organizations that Perry interned with over the summer, Drayton Hall is the real thing, bound by the organization’s mission to preserve the property—that is, to keep it in near-original condition just as the National Trust received it from the Drayton family in 1974.

The main house is considered one of the finest examples of Georgian-Palladian architecture in the United States. The grounds represent one of the most significant, undisturbed historic landscapes in America. And Drayton Hall’s stories—stories of race, family, culture, sacrifice, innovation, and preservation—reveal who we are and where we’ve come from.
